Midweek Music Break, Vol. 9

It's that time again - time for a break. Although for me it feels a bit premature as this is a prescheduled post. I've set an alarm on my phone for 12pm GMT when this post goes up so I can press play at that exact moment and take my weekly music break as it goes live. I have a feeling I will be needing it. If you're listening around midday on Wednesday (or morning for my US friends), then we can share a few moments to enjoy some music. I hope you enjoy!

'Strange how a phone call can change your day.'

I had been listening to 'Bless the Telephone' by Labi Siffre all day Monday, the day I was putting together this week's mix of songs. The song is about talking on the phone with a lover, but instead of making me want to call H (which I do every day anyway) I knew I had to call my parents. Since living abroad, and since H and I live in different cities during the week, the telephone is a very important part of my life. It's retro I know. But the song just feels so perfect for my life at the moment. God bless the telephone.

This week's mix in general is a bit melancholy - a lot of down-tempo songs. Perfect for grey autumn days spent talking on the telephone.

What have you been listening to this week?
